March 6, 2008

Dear 95th AAA Friends,

Well, the axe has fallen. We have made the decision to NOT have the 2008 reunion. Since sending out the reunion letter we have been giving it a lot of thought and Mary Lou Potter called tonight. While talking with her we made a joint decision to cancel plans for the reunion.

We have had a very poor response to the letter, most stating they wouldn’t be able to attend. That, along with the cost of gasoline, etc. it just doesn’t make sense to continue traveling that far. Maybe sometime later a group can get together on the Washington coast....we’ll see what happens.

Bud and I certainly have enjoyed the past reunions, meeting new people and renewing old friendships, but the time has come to discontinue. We’re all getting older, some have passed on and some have health problems, so fewer and fewer were attending.

Sincerely,

Bud and Sharon Englehart

To date we have located the following members of the 95th AAA Gun Battalion serving in 1951 - 1952. We have addresses and telephone numbers and will supply upon receiving an email or "snail" mail request. If you have an address for others than those listed, we would very much appreciate being able to add them to our reunion mailing list. Those members with an asterisk after their name attended the 2006 Reunion and had a great time.

Note received 10-20-06: Dear Friends,  I do hope you had a successful reunion last week. For your records, I wanted to let you know that Burdette "Bert" Sundstrom died from 'liver cancer' on March 19, 2005. Both Burdette and I had a lot of wonderful memories from our days in the service.  Sincerely,  Lois Sundstrom

Returned mail 03-24-08: Bart Cavender deceased 2-14-07

Email received 03-25-08: I was reviewing your letter about the reunion. I just wanted to let your group know that my father, Gordon Chalenburg, passed away on September 8, 2006. I do hope that a reunion an be held at a later time and my family can attend. Any emails can be sent to me at sgandy54@clearwire.net .
